Months To Book Your Multi-Day Rafting Trip In Oregon
At River Drifters, we offer family-friendly overnight rafting trips on some of the best rivers in the Pacific Northwest, including the Rogue River, Deschutes River, and Owyhee River. One of the most frequently asked questions we get from our customers inquiring about multi-day trips is, “How far in advance do I need to book my multi-day rafting trip in Oregon?”
Preparing for a multi-day rafting trip in Oregon, especially for the whole family, multiple families, or groups definitely takes some advanced planning and forethought. Planning any trip last minute tends to be a tad stressful, and can mean red-eye flights, questionable lodging accommodations, or camping right next to the bathroom because the more desirable options were already reserved. Plus, getting a family rafting vacation on the calendar gives you something to look forward to and get excited about!
To help answer this popular question, below are our recommendations and things to consider for when you should book your family’s multi-day rafting trip in Oregon for the upcoming season.
When to Book Your Multi-Day Rafting Trip In Oregon:
Rogue River | Rogue River trips launch weekly starting at the end of May, and our last trips of the season are towards the end of October. The Rogue River offers one of the most spectacular overnight rafting trips in the Pacific Northwest, and therefore is a highly sought-after trip by both beginner and experienced rafters! Because of its popularity, we recommend reserving your Rogue River trips by March or April.

Deschutes River | Deschutes River trips start running at the end of April and our final trip of the season is typically in the first half of October. Our Deschutes River trips launch several times weekly throughout the season. Multi-day trips on the Deschutes are perfect for beginners, families with younger children, or those looking for a quick extended weekend getaway! We recommend booking your Deschutes River trips by May or June.

Owyhee River | The rafting season for the Owyhee River is short and very sweet, with trips launching weekly from the beginning of April to the end of May. The Owyhee River offers rafting through one of the most remote and pristine river canyons in the Lower 48 and can truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Given its early and short rafting season, we recommend making your Owyhee River trip reservations as soon as possible in the winter months.

Things to Consider:
- Group sizes are smaller on multi-day trips which means spots are more limited compared to single-day rafting trips.
- If there are only one or two sets of dates that are available in your family or group’s schedule for a rafting trip, we recommend booking as soon as possible.
- If your family vacation requires airline, lodging, camping, and/or other activities with reservations, we recommend securing your rafting trip with us as soon as possible.
